Angela Kennecke

Angela Kennecke is a veteran investigative journalist with a mission to stop the stigma
surrounding addiction and find solutions to the overdose epidemic. Her work took on a
personal urgency on the day she learned that her 21-year-old daughter, Emily, died of
fentanyl poisoning. Since then, Angela has spoken tirelessly about the issues
surrounding addiction and is the founder of "Emily's Hope," a charity that offers hope
and treatment scholarships to families struggling with addiction. Emily’s Hope has also
developed a ground-breaking elementary school prevention curriculum.
Angela is an award-winning journalist whose investigative reporting has led to
changes in state laws, and she is a South Dakota Hall of Fame inductee and recipient
of the prestigious Silver Circle Award from the National Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences. She is also the author of The Day His Heart Stopped Crying, an
inspirational book about second chances.
